Youth Mental Health First Aid
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course is a 14-hour accredited, evidence-based workshop for anyone who interacts with young people at work or home. It is designed for educators, school staff, parents, and anyone supporting adolescents (aged 12–18) to help them during crises, emotional distress, or emerging mental health challenges.
Participants learn to:
Recognise signs and symptoms of common adolescent mental health issues
Respond effectively to emerging or worsening problems
Understand available treatments and support options
Upon completion, participants become Mental Health First Aiders, equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide initial support until professional help is available.
Conversations about Suicide
This 4-hour face-to-face, evidence-based workshop equips educators, youth workers, workplaces, and community members to provide initial support to someone experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviours until professional help is available or the crisis resolves.
Participants learn to:
Recognise and respond to suicidal thoughts and behaviours
Initiate supportive conversations using a practical, evidence-based action plan
Encourage pathways to professional help
Suicide Prevention Australia recognises the course as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program. It provides an essential first-aid approach to suicidality, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to act when it matters most.
Conversations about Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI)
This 4-hour face-to-face, evidence-based workshop equips educators, youth workers, and community members to provide initial support to someone engaging in non-suicidal self-injury until professional help is available or the crisis resolves.
Participants learn to:
Recognise and respond to non-suicidal self-injury
Initiate supportive conversations using a practical, evidence-based action plan
Encourage pathways to professional help and available supports
This course provides essential skills and builds the confidence educators and community members need to safely intervene and support someone engaging in NSSI, helping participants take action when it matters most.
